What Makes a PatBO Piece

The handwork. This is the whole point of the label. Beading, embroidery, appliqué and crochet are done by hand rather than machine, and it shows in the density and irregularity of the detail. A machine-embellished dress looks uniform. A PatBO dress does not.

Colour and print. The Brazilian influence runs through everything. Florals, tropical prints and saturated colour appear where a European label would reach for black.

Metallic jersey. One of the label’s signatures. It moves like jersey but catches light like a metallic, which makes it unusually easy to wear for something that photographs as dramatically as it does.

Crochet. Used across maxi dresses and separates, and one of the few places you will find crochet executed at this level.

Choosing a Piece for Your Occasion

For formal weddings and evening events, the metallic jersey styles work beautifully. A keyhole maxi or one-shoulder silhouette gives you drama without embellishment weight.

For cocktail and daytime celebrations, the midi dresses are the strength of the collection. Flutter sleeves, jacquard and flower appliqué styles carry an afternoon ceremony into an evening reception.

For resort and destination weddings, the crochet maxi styles are made for it. Warm-weather fabric, real presence, and they photograph well against sun and landscape.

For separates, the golden weave skirt and peplum top pieces work together or split across other things in your wardrobe.

Styling Notes

Let the embellishment be the statement. A heavily beaded or appliquéd PatBO dress needs almost nothing alongside it. Delicate earrings, a plain clutch, a simple heel.

Metallic jersey suits gold-toned jewelry and warm metallics rather than silver.

The prints are bold enough to carry a plain shoe and bag. Matching a shoe to a print in the dress rarely works and usually ages the look.

Sizing and Fit

PatBO generally runs true to size. Because much of the collection is jersey and stretch-based, there is more give than the structure suggests.

Two things worth knowing. Embellished pieces have less stretch through the beaded sections regardless of the base fabric, so check the fit where the handwork sits rather than where it does not. And maxi lengths are cut for a heel, so budget for a hem if you are under about 5’5″ or plan to wear something flat.

Care

Hand-embellished pieces are dry clean only, and worth taking to a cleaner who handles beading regularly. Aggressive pressing damages appliqué and loosens beadwork.

Store on a padded hanger, or folded flat for anything heavily beaded, since the weight of dense handwork pulls a garment out of shape over time on a hanger.

Keep beaded and crochet pieces in a garment bag. Both snag on everything nearby.
